July 13, 2008: tbjkids invited 200 of its readers for a free day of fun at the Magic Water Wold located in Ditan Park. Kids received tbjkids'fans and balloons as well as a waterproof box and a water gun to even better enjoy their time during that hot and beautiful day.
July 04, 2008: Kids from various backgrounds and age groups competed in tbjkids' Kids Summer Games at the AmCham-China’s Independence Day BBQ event.
Children participated in nine games including Extreme Basketball, Beanbag Toss, Hacky-sack Kick, Get Dressed and Spoon a Walnut. Upon completing the games, each participant walked away with a tbjkids goodie bag stuffed with a tbjkids fan and balloon, some toys: bubbles, a whirligig and an “insect toy” and a spoon/fork/chopsticks kit from United Family Hospitals & Clinics.

June 29,2008 The Fourth Annual Immersion Guides Chili Pepper Eating Contest had Canada Day spectators spellbound as spice-loving contestants braved the wrath of the chili for the chance to be crowned Chili King and Queen of Beijing. Gabriel Monroe, the winner of the 2006 Chili Pepper Eating Contest, and Lily Zhao, the winner of the 2007 Chili Pepper Eating Contest, faced off amongst a slew of new contenders. They held onto their crowns as they both ate a whopping 75 peppers in five minutes. Second place and the title of Pepper Prince was awarded to Spike Millington, who heroically swallowed 33 peppers. Each contestant was awarded gift certificates from Asian Star and Elisa’s Italian, as well as an exclusive Chili Pepper t-shirt courtesy of Gobi Gear.

June 20,2008 The Hard Rock Cafe, rejuvenated, renovated and reopened to a new look. Located on east Third Ring Road, the American rock institution arrived on the Beijing nightlife scene in 1994 with a special opening performance from B. B King. This time they have Darryl McDaniels, founding member of the pioneer hip hop outfit Run DMC, to help celebrate the event.
