question of "BEING"
I bought an organizer (notebook) for my classes. It's basic black with some text on the front. I didn't pay it much mind, just liked the features.
I was reading it on the bus today and it says:
"Notebooks, made with future technology for tomorrow's most outstanding achievers."
Two questions:
1. If the technology used is future then it does not exist yet ... so does my notebook exist?
2. If it does exist, have the Chinese secretly perfected time travel?
Or is there a question I have not considered?

Re: question of "BEING"
they forgot to print the tail end of the full statement, which should have been:
"Notebooks, made with future technology for tomorrow's most outstanding achievers, would not be nearly as cheap as this one you just bought."

"Notebooks, made with future technology for tomorrow's most outstanding achievers."
This is just a translated Chinese sentence without too much accuracy. Don't focus too much on it.
What they wanna express is that the notebooks are GOOD.

Re: question of "BEING"
The inscription on my notebook might not be as grammatically correct as yours, but I still find mine more inspiring:
Almost haiku-like. They just don't make 'em like this anymore. Got mine in Taipei 15 years ago.

Re: question of "BEING"
Very nice as well.
I just felt like mine offered me an existential moment.
You know, the whole "why are we here?" kind of thing.

Re: question of "BEING"
I prefer t-shirt haiku. Like the one i saw on Line 10 on the subway a few weeks back:
"I'm f-er
Dangerous
Are you want to die?"

Re: question of "BEING"
brilliant, but it works with all languages. Like all the random Chinese characters you can see on really bad designs in the West.
But the one you posted is particularly good (^_~)
"beware those who seek constant crowds for
they are nothing alone
beware the average man the average woman
beware their love, their love is average
seeks average"

Hmmm, stating the obvious. Having trouble leaving this world? It's just a philosophical question. Look deeper.

In the t-shirt category I like the one popular with the young ladies these days ... "c'est un idiot"

Oh yeah baby, Gambol! That's my notebook of choice.
It's so amazing. 7mm and 24 lines!
It's good for anything. When I run out of TP, it's Gambol!

Re: question of "BEING"
Well when I'm holding the individual snow white sheets of Gambol between my a** (don't you just love self censorship?) and my hand it sure as hell does exist.
"This note is good for many use to enjoy your ceration [sic] life." from choudoufu is a fun one.
I'll have to dig through my archives, I'm sure there are some good ones from Japan!
