Adorable affectionate cat for looking for a loving home(pix)

Well, I'd never planned on having a cat here in Beijing, since I knew I'd be leaving in August, but sometimes these guys have a way of adopting you...

Skippy found us in our apartment grounds on a wet April evening. At the time he was gaunt, filthy, and worst of all his right paw was swollen, red, and bent at a weird angle -- obviously broke. He came right up to us and mewed forlornly, begging to be touched and loved, so we couldn't turn our backs on him. We decided to take him in with the purpose of nursing him back to good health and then finding someone who could adopt him long term.

Since then we've had him x-rayed, bandaged, treated for fleas (Frontline), treated for ear mites, neutered, vaccinated, de-wormed, and also bathed him several times (he actually doesn't mind this too much). He's now a very healthy cat -- his paw is now completely recovered, he has a soft and beautiful coat of snow white fur, and has gained nearly 5 lbs, hehe.

About the cat:
~1 year old (judging by his teeth)
-Male (neutered)
-White short-hair with pink ears/nose/toes and pretty light blue eyes (seems to have some Turkish Angora in him)
-His name is "Skippy" (used to have a skip in his step from the broken paw, plus I love peanut butter, haha)
-He's very affectionate and loves attention (being petted, tickled, massaged, playing with toys, hide-and-seek, etc). He also loves to sleep and will stretch out for naps a good portion of the day and all night. He's never bitten or scratched us, even when giving him a bath.
-He eats the cheap, dry Friskies cat food and also likes a treat of canned tuna juice or even cantaloupe every once-in-awhile (yes, cantaloupe, I dunno why but he's CRAZY about it). He knows how to use the litter box and loves to keep himself clean. It's obvious he was someones house cat before and they just threw him out, unforgivable...

We'll also give you a carrying cage, food and water dishes, 2 hair brushes, his toys, litter box, little bed we made him, special cat nail clippers so he won't tear up your furniture, and whatever extra food and kitty litter we have.

If you or anyone you know is willing and able to provide a good home for him, please don't hesitate to contact me through the board or email me at: endarkend_perapera@hotmail.com I'd love to answer any other questions you might have before adopting him. He will bring loads of fun and joy into your life, as he already has done mine!

Thank you for taking the time to read this -- here are the pictures (I have many more if you want, just email me a request).

Just after we find him (he loves stretching out and getting petted like this):

A little bit cleaner and curled up for a nap:

Looking cute/guilty:

Looking playful & sticking his tongue out a little:

Curled up in my girlfriend's lap:

This one is so cute -- my gf was petting him and he kept hugging her hand and taking her thumb into his mouth, teething it gently and making a cute face:

Why didn't take him with you back home?

Re: Adorable affectionate cat for looking for a loving home(pix)

Well, even if it wasn't any trouble taking him back by plane, it would be really hard for me to continue taking care of him back in the States since I'll be attending grad school and need to find a roommate or live in a dorm (in either case, pets aren't usually welcome...). So I think it would be best for him to find a loving home here in his hometown of Beijing.

Re: Adorable affectionate cat for looking for a loving home(pix)

Well, another cat found us. This time it was a tiny black kitten that was laying along the edge of the sidewalk, waiting to die. He was covered in mud and didn't even attempt to fight back when we picked up up -- so skinny and light it felt like we were holding nothing at all. My first thought was that the last thing I need right now is another abandoned cat to look after, but he was in such a pitiful state that to ignore him would be a death sentence. So, we took him back to the apartment and gave him water, which he lapped at for a good 10 minutes straight. Then we gave him some moistened cat food and a bath. He was still very weak after all this, but seemed somewhat revived at any rate.

He really longs for human contact and starts purring as soon our hands are anywhere near him. We couldn't keep him in our little apartment since we already have a cat, so the best we could do was take him to the local pet store where they agreed to keep him temporarily. So, it's kind of urgent that we find an owner for him, cause I'm afraid they might just throw him out. We go see him everyday to bring him food, clean his ears/apply medicine for his ear mites, and rub some anti-fungal cream on his feline ringworm (he purrs throughout this because he's so happy just to have someone touching and paying attention to him, despite the discomfort).

It's hard to tell from the pictures but he's very tiny -- about the size of my hand. He certainly needs someone who can give him tender loving care. He has ear mites and ringworm -- both of which are very common in abandoned cats and easy to treat. I'll even give you the anti-fungal cream we've been using.

Once again, if you or anyone you know is willing and able to provide a good home for him, please don't hesitate to contact me through the board or email me at: endarkend_perapera@hotmail.com

Thank you for taking the time to read this -- here are the pictures:

We'd just brought him home and hadn't given him a bath yet:

Here he's looking a little shy, wanting human contact:

He looked up and the light caught his beautiful golden eyes:

You're a good person! Nice to see folks taking care of animals. You did everything right, get doctor treatment etc. Excellent.

Made my day Big Grin

Re: Adorable affectionate cat for looking for a loving home(pix)

I had adopted a cat two months ago, but so far two new family here want to adopted him, if they did it, then you can leave the black cat to me.
I could keep him in our store till I found the new family

Will let you know within next week.

Re: Adorable affectionate cat for looking for a loving home(pix)

Update: We just found a home for the little black cat -- his new "mom" came and picked him up today! She took him straight to the animal hospital already and got him a check up, so he should be on his way to a full recovery Smile She has one cat already so he'll have a big brother to play with now as well!

Thanks for your support everyone!
