All the really cool travellers that turn up in the world's remote places at full moon parties. It can't be found in any building or box, the sun is about to rise and the beginning of a new day surrounded by people that don't care about your car, money or clothes. They aren't old or new, but they are never replaced by anything.

The energy far outweighs carefully manicured tv personalities and nothing is there because of hardcore promotion or hype. Thats where you'll find those people imo.

Sorry Herbie but can't agree with you there. What are these guys doing except getting wasted and then jetting back home causing massive carbon emmissions and with little or no understanding of the local customs and language of the country they've been dossing in for a few months.

Then again I'm probably just jealous I can't have a holiday...

Na, in places north of Anjuna (Goa) for instance, they are long term travellers, whereas, the crappy package tourists end up in places like Baga or Calangute. Maybe you were thinking of Ibiza or somewhere.

While I respect people's lifestyle choices, in my opinion the whole scene is fake in that it revolves around meaningless hedonism rather than contributing to the communities (except thru a bit of tourist money) in any meaningful way...

A lot of these people are looking for a deeper meaning to their lives, some going into Ashrams, learning Yoga and discussing all kinds of theories. I think you might be confusing boozed up package tourists with completely spaced out escape seekers.
