With their gleaming La Pavoni espresso machine, and fresh Arabica roasters coffee, this bright and cheerful café hopes to bring the spirit of the independent Seattle coffee house to Beijing. Currently, they’re offering up a wide variety of lattes (from RMB 18), blended frappe coffees (RMB 25 – 25), and espresso, which manager Benjamin Taylor proclaims “the best in town.” Accompany your hot beverage with marbled cheesecake (RMB 18 per slice), rich sacher torte, or croissants. Those seeking a quick lunch will be happy to know that deli-style sandwiches will soon be added to the menu. Taylor promises a wide selection of fillings, including roast beef, ham and cheese, or salami, as well as vegetarian options. A big sandwich (from RMB 28 to 36) feeds two; lunch specials will include a half sandwich, salad, and a cookie. Jan 05
