Liu Lixin, a child of Inner Mongolia and once a guitarist for local power metal band Ordnance Depot (Junxiesuo), has been dedicated to local music since he came to Beijing in 1998. His 13 Club opened on Christmas Day. The 300 square-meter club is located in Lanqiying, smack in the middle of the university district. Liu is hoping to draw the rock ‘n roll youth to his club, and to that end is planning a live show seven days a week, year round. As for music style, Liu isn’t picky (and with that many shows to support, he can’t be), but everything must be local – no teased-hair wankers drifting in from abroad. In keeping with the student theme, drinks are cheap – draft beer is RMB 10. Actually, for now, that’s the only drink on the menu. Jan 05
